Here come the Spirit Police. So predictable. Instead of interacting with what is said, they judge the motive of your heart, without not knowing you. Amazing, Jeff. Why are so many of my brothers the same? Who are you to judge my spirit?
I'm using rhetoric about a practice that I think makes God upset. You know you've been there. Holy Ghost Auctioneers. The whole event doesn't even feel like people are giving their lives to Jesus, they are experiencing some sort of emotional ecstasy, and the others are just imitating whatever they can to get the bad breath out of their face. It's true.
This is coming from a guy that has been part of international crusades, and has seen (legitmately) thousands receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I'm not anti- the Holy Ghost.

Jeffery I believe you are sincere and your motives are correct.

Scroll back a few pages and read my post about my own bitterness towards Bro Cole....and you will know where I'm coming from.
We don't have to agree with the methods but we also should not be condemning them and making light of them

I'm condemning things that happen in those meetings. People feel vindicated to rail against worldiness and liberalism and compromise and on and on and on. Well, this is a doctrinal concern, and a deep concern about how some approach the harvest. Again, I've been at 100,000 soul crusades. Not all of them are alike. But lately, many of the "mass" evangelism meetings I've attended had some weird shennanigans going on. I don't like. Don't agree with it.

Re: A fast growing UPC church thats doing it right
That video is so awesome!!! I think it is so cool that God is still drawing people to Him! I pray God allows that same vision, that same fresh anointing to rain down on us in So Ill!!!!
And no, I'm not UPC any longer, and I may not agree with all the methods used by Bro. Downs or Bro. Maddix...BUT you cannot deny that God can, will and is drawing people to Him! I'll allow God to use whatever methods He desires to bring His children to Him!!!!!!

But your post seemed to assume that the revival Lady Rev received the Holy Ghost in was not legitimate. You called it a Holy Ghost Auction.
That was a tad judgmental, don't you think?

Re: A fast growing UPC church thats doing it right
They are holding the first night of a Maddix Bootcamp tonight at the church.
From the pastors Facebook feed: "Opening night of Bootcamp was life changing! 2 co-workers with my wife received the Holy Ghost! 4 total and 1 baptized in Jesus name!"
This discussion has devolved into a bunch of folks jacking the mans miracle story to bash their dislike for a totally different type of "revival" service. Its like saying you hate the taste of eggs on a thread devoted to folks who love tuna sandwiches.
This couple does constant week in and week out witnessing on Thursdays and Saturdays on top of a high level of community servant evangelism. They don't hold mega-rally's normally. They do great follow up and take discipleship seriously. Watch the entire freaking video before you lump anything in with what they are doing. 20 to 200 in 20 months is a exciting story and it would seem there is something to learn and emulate for many of our churches.

I wasn't assuming anything about LadyRev's personal Holy Ghost experience, or even specifically the meeting she talked about. We are talking about meetings "like" those ones. Discussing them even.
And I wasn't accused (or asked as you have done) if I was being judgemental, I was told I'm bitter.
Are you telling me you never have seen this stuff happen? Be honest.

Maybe you should start a seperate thread called "Are crusades a waste of resources?" I actually don't disagree with what you saying, but its not what this church is doing, so it should be a seperate topic.
