I have a lot of respect, admiration and appreciation for His mercy in leaving what He thought we would need in His Word for all to read and heed.

Interesting that you agree with this, yet, that's it...

Why not read the muttle that followed this. Obvious anger/fear/arogance, and defense of "God in his corner" was apparent.

WE??? Forgive me if I view this only as YOUR opinion(s).
You don't speak for anyone but., and your views are yours alone to prattle on about., pls refrain from dragging all of the royal priesthood into your rhetoric. I'm sorry that you don't seem to have the LOVE relationship with GOD that myself and others I know of..do. I have no problem accepting the HOLY BIBLE as inspired by GOD to men that HE alone chose, to do so., I'm also sorry for ya that you don't seem to think you are chosen, perhaps you are not, but i know that I am! And you may not see the BIBLE as I do*, but that again, is your loss..although that* may explain your thinkin.
From my viewpoint you seem to have a warped sense of holiness.., and thats about all I will say for now., this is hardly an edifying topic. In fact I didn't read every bit of this current post, I just could not let this ruin my appetite nor my happy demeanor. Try and get a good nights sleep perhaps things will look better for ya in the a.m. I will pray for your soul.

This is the Barrier I'm referring too. This is the arogance of Religion. This is putting God in a Box, the Prison of "He's mine, not yours".
No, that is a personal choice, don't blame lack on everyone else.

Cant stand it that someone else is available to backhand the arrogant true epitomy of muttle
of those whom can't SEE to save their silly souls?

Re: God in Prison

NFS,

Good thread. I appreciate what I think is the sentiment that you are expressing. We've become idolatrous to the point that we've made God into OUR IMAGE - what WE think He should be, what WE think He should do, etc.

I love the Bible! Through its pages, I learned that I was a sinner in a desperate situation. But through its pages I also learned that Jesus, my Savior, offers me a free gift to remedy my desperate situation. I love the Bible, and I believe that God inspired men to write what we have today and consider "canon." Do I believe there are errors? Sure... anytime man is involved there are errors. Do I still believe it to be inspired? Of course, but I don't worship the Bible. I worship God.

My former pastor's father-in-law, when he would visit to preach for us, would always pick up the Bible after he had read his text and kiss its pages. Having been raised Roman Catholic, I didn't appreciate it the first time I saw it. Many of my friends thought how wonderful it was that he had such a reverence for the Word of God. I just saw it as idolatrous, to be quite honest. Do we love and worship and revere the God of the Bible? Or do we love and worship and revere the Bible of God?
