so your saying we have to do nothing to stay saved? salvation was purchased by JESUS and his blood ,,,..we have to be born again of water and spirit to enter into the kingdom which is the free gift of god ,, but we must receive it . JESUS SAID if you love me keep my commandments ,, so there is something we must do..

We became sinners by being born into the natural world. We become clean by being reborn into the spiritual. Of course there are things we do, but not to the extent that many say. But it is not our works that save us, it is our faith in the work that Christ has done.

Heb 5:9

9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that OBEY him;
KJV

How does obedience come into play? Is faith without obedience really faith?

Nope! Original Sin is a lie and we are not sinners UNTIL WE SIN! Show me in the garden that curse of total depravity and sin nature imputed.

Oh and by the way nice way to ignore the words of our savior. IT IS HARD to enter for the way is narrow.

Mat 7:13 "Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.
Mat 7:14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

Luk 13:23 Someone78 asked79 him, "Lord, will only a few80 be saved?" So81 he said to them,
Luk 13:24 "Exert every effort(agonize) to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.

Thanks. And I guess this is why we are advised to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling! It's hard, and with so many things could go wrong, the odds are against us. Even many who think they got it right, won't. "Lord, Lord, didn't we...?"

And yet...

"... the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."

Galatians 2:20

To "stay saved" I don't even "have to" breath! The very life that I live is by the faith of Jesus Christ! I literally don't "have to do" anything.

... that is, I don't have to do anything but ask myself, "How can I possibly thank Him for all He's done?" I think that when we answer that, the living really starts.

I doubt Timmy is an atheist.
