Ask the dude that started this thread. It's his argument Christmas is ok now. Christians adopted Christmas as the day Jesus was born many years ago, so clearly they gave their approval and NI seems to think that because Christians changed the meaning it makes it alright. I was just pointing out the flaw in that thinking with regards to the fish symbol
That seems very selective. Christians adopted pagan holidays, they no longer retain the original meaning and so it is ok.
Christians adopted pagan symbols and yet you claim they STILL retain the original meaning and therefore not ok.
Is a cross pagan? Does it retain the original meaning or do Christians see it another way? Same with the fish....do Christians use the fish symbol according to it's pagan meaning or did they change that?
You are correct. I almost fell over laughing when he dismissed pagan holidays as ok because Christians have adopted them yet the fish symbol is not.
A little consistency would be nice.
I am willing to be he also uses calendars and refers to the days of the week. What a pagan!!

We can't avoid the world. I can avoid celebrating pagan holidays.... but it's still around us. I haven't stopped going to the mexican restaurants with their sungods on the wall and i still go to the china restaurants and they have their false gods sitting around. is it wrong? uh, i don't think sooo...
what's my point? don't have one... just wanted to throw that in!! lolol
donuts are pagan.........yep, they are a circle and circles are pagan.... lolol

I am insterested in the thoughts of this board as to what you may consider pagan and why. edit: I am specifically looking for responses to symbolism that is not considered pagan today by the church.

LOl~ Good luck, last time I try to explain what pagan really stood for I was called a Wiccan ~
~Here the example I gave below that caused such foolishness~
Pagan is an old english word. It means ‘Country Dweller’ and refers to anyone that the Christian church hasn’t reached yet (ie. those out in the country away from the cities where the churches were first established).
Pagan is an umbrella term. It covers a whole gammut of belief systems. Anyone who isn’t a Christian is by definition a Pagan. Bhudists, Odinites, Wiccans, Pastafarians, anyone.
