I'm laughing! Isn't it crazy how much effort it takes!?
I've been a single mom, to four, since my baby was barely born. He's 4 years old now. But I've been watching a 2 year old and good Lord almighty. How did I ever manage to get groceries, or go to appointments or do ANYTHING when I had 3, 3 and under? Or 4, 6 and under as a single mom? I definitely appreciate those who are in the middle of what I was a few years ago. It's not easy, but I think it really becomes a matter of doing what needs to be done when it needs to be done.
One thing I have realized recently, little kids are absolutely exhausting. This 4 year old thing is cool...he mostly can do for himself and has every desire to do so. He's also no longer suicidal (he's a runner...the multiple times this child made it into seriously busy streets probably took 30 years off my life) so it's fun to take him outside and let him run (where he's supposed to run vs into traffic..lol).

P.S. This post was not made to get pity, but to pay homage to all you mothers and special honor to ALL single parents who NEVER get a break!!!

God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we're in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ. ~Romans 3:24 from The Message
...try raising a border collie from a puppy! yeesh!
Having watched my mom do that a few times....I think you might actually have a close approximation there. lol

My single daughter wrote me a note on Facebook a few days ago. She had spent the day cleaning her apartment. Her note read:
"I worked harder cleaning house on my day off than during the whole week...mom how did you ever keep house so well?"
LOL! I had 3 children in less than 5 years and the responsibilities that came with being a pastor's wife. I look back now and wonder how I did it all, but you just do what you have to do. It becomes routine.
Looking back, it didn't seem so hard although I'm sure if you'd asked me then ..... there would have been lots of difficult days and times. In fact I know there were because I kept a journal at times and what I wrote there records some of the frustration, tired out-ness, and the endless laundry, cleaning, meals, etc., etc., etc.
But they were good times. I wouldn't trade those days for anything in this world.

The funny thing is I had to edit. Forgot to include my b.d. in the "young" side! (Of course, the definition may change now and then, depending on how young I feel. )
