Their first argument is so and so did so and so and you think they are lost. So their works or being family saves them not the gospel.

Being "good" makes a person saved??? First I heard of it. I thought it was faith!

When the reality is that those who would have us accept them are really judging them not by an objective standard like the word of God but by something shallow like a song that gave you goose bumps or a book that may have been informative.
So all you judgers out there quit judging by YOUR OWN STANDARDS and start applying the Word of God to your judgments.

Very good point.

You are judging some of us as not applying God's Word when in fact, you are applying your interpretation of God's Word as are we.

Hmmm....I'll gladly accept the label of "Liberal" according to some people's definition, but not by some other's definition.
Being good never saved a single soul. Having a saving relationship with the Creator..........priceless!!

I know you consider me one of the "libs", but I sure don't believe any of that stuff you just spouted above. You cannot be saved unless you have a true relationship with Jesus Christ, as Lord and Master. You are not saved by anything that you do, including being a good person, giving to charities, etc. Who in the world believes that stuff???

Well, I sure don't know anyone in any kind of evangelical or Spirit filled church that believes this. I think most true Christians believe that you are saved through faith in Jesus Christ and what He did on Calvary.

I have had people tell me that they didn't need the Holy Ghost that they had lived a good life. They said that they volunteered for this or that, or that they always give to some charity, and on and on they go.
There are those who believe that they will be saved just because they are good people. I have even encountered them in Pentecostal churches.

I would like to revisit this thread. It has the potential of being quite profitable to us all.
Thanks Elder, for bringing it to our attention. I see a lot of merit in your statement that is generally little recognized.
First, would you be grant us your idea of what would be the general parameters of what might be called "works." This would be something more than a mere definition lifted from a dictionary or a lexicon.
