Man, I hate that I missed the news~! I was doing dinner dishes and just got done; I will try to catch it later tonight. Did they say anything different? The internet just said that at least 50 died in that church in Eldoret, rather than 15 they were saying earlier. They hacked them with machetes and then burned the building where they were hiding. Over 2,000 of them attacked the church where the Kikuku's were staying. That is EXACTLY what they did in Rwanda in 1994; used machetes and then burned the bodies alive.

We have two pastors in the town of Eldoret, and three more in Kakamega, which is only a few miles away. Our head pastor and headquarter's church is about an hour and a half from Eldoret, but that's not a lot of miles; the roads are terrible!

I justn was emailing some friends who have been to Africa with us and realized that I was typing the tribe as "Kikuku" rather than "Kikuyu". I was saying it right in my mind, but have been typing it wrong on here!!! My brain was mal-functioning! Anyway, the correct name is KIKUYU!

We've heard 275, but that was before last night, so I'm sure it's more by now. I just heard from Pastor James in Kakamega and he said that he sneaked into town from his house where they've been hiding and made sure that his church was still standing. Like Pastor Julius said, he can't find any food either, because all the stores have shut down. But at least he and his wife and four kids are safe. Some of his church members are hiding at the police station because their homes have been burned to the ground. Ten people were shot and killed right outside of his house. I know that he and his wife are not Kikuyu, so they are probably not in as much danger as some.

We had very intense prayer tonight at church for our pastors in Kenya. Such a deep burden hit our church for these brothers and sisters in the Lord! I am going to try to get the cell phone number of our head pastor and call tomorrow, if I can get through. I did put money in his account today, but I'm not sure if he can get to an ATM. With no food and no gas available, it might not do much good anyway.

I assume the U.S. will do the same, if it hasn't already.

Kenya has been the one peaceful country in that area of Africa until now, and they are talking about Civil War. Our driver is of the Kikuku tribe, and they are being killed randomly, so I know he is probably in hiding. He's such a great man and really loves the Lord. Please pray for his safety; his name is Bernard. The news reports have just made me cry; I love that country so much!
Don't cry Sister, your faith will do wonders, just believe that this issue be resolved in Jesus name.

We will be in prayer for the Lord to help Bernard and his family during this time.

In Jesus name

Brother Benincasa

Sherri many of our people prayed at the church and in my home today for Kenya and I feel that God spared Brother Alvear's life today because we were in so much prayer. Pray is something we all can do.
