Re: Did the Great Flood Cover the Whole Earth?

In Gen 1:2 waters covered the whole Earth. Then God divided the water above from the waters beneath and put a space (firmament) separating the two waters. The upper water is suspended into the heavens as water vapor. That's where rain comes from. There was and is enough water available to cover the whole Earth.

Exactly! We take the plain literal reading of the word of God unless there is a clear reason in the word itself to do otherwise.

For instance when we read about the whore in the book of Revelation we first read it literally until later on we find the writer explains what the whore is, a city.

It kind of boggles my mind as well, BUT below is and VERY interesting quote from Arlo Moehlenpah's book on Creation vs Evolution:

"Nearly all of the great mountain areas of the world have been found to have marine fossils near their summits. There is no conclusion possible other than that the mountains were once under water and have all been uplifted, essentially simultaneously, which accords well with the biblical Flood."

The author of this book has a PHD and is apostolic. He knowledge of science, geology and how they intertwine with the Bible is second to none. Reading his book really helped me to come to grips with things like, the flood of Noah, dinosaurs, young earth vs old earth theories.

Why do folks feel they have to limit God? HE can do all things!
