Well, I'm cleaning house right now, and doing laundry so we can be ready to go tomorrow night after church to visit with Steadfast and his family this week. woooohooooo
(Not too sure they will be that thrilled, but me and mine are. My boys, especially, well, on second thought, the Skinner is pretty excited also!!)
They will probably be ready for us to leave long before we do.
Anyway, we are looking forward to it.
First, we have to take our missionary out to dinner, tonight, so we are taking him to the Hickory Tree in Smolan, KS. Excellent food.
So pray for us (and the Steadfast family, they will really need it!)
After reading that, it sounded like I wasn't too interested, but I am!!! I just got alot of work to do before I get there.
We just got home from a night at the Peabody in Memphis. It was so wonderful, and FREE. That's the best part. We ate at the Cappricio Grille there and had great food. It was a really nice room, very large. All that time we lived in Memphis, we never went there to spend the night. Of course we could never afford it then (1980-1984). We were extremely poor, but happy!
LR took me to the Peabody once when I visited her. We didn't eat there or anything, just took a tour! LOL! Pretty cool place. Loved the ducks!

We just had a young Chinese boy - 16 years old - move in here with us. His name is Eric.
His mom attends our church. She and her husband live and work in China but she makes frequent trips - every couple months - back here to Vancouver. She wanted him to be in a place where he had a bit more supervision and not alone so much and where he could increase his English skills and be in a "western" home. Of course Eric is here also so that he can attend a good school. Education is always paramount in the Chinese mind.
He'll be here for 3 months and if it's working out and we're happy and he is too then he stays for a year. He speaks Cantonese as well as Mandarin so it might be a way of me brushing up a bit on my Cantonese.
He seems to be a very nice polite kid and from what I've been told and mature for his age.

Felicity, my 17 year old son will be on the next plane. Please pick him up at the airport. You are running a place for homeless boys, right? Cuz there are days (and this is one of them!) when, if I wasn't such a good mother, my son would be homeless! Hey! He doesn't eat alot (for a teen-age boy). He does take very long showers tho, so be warned. And he's interested in learning Japanese. Cantonese would be close enough, in my way of thinking.

LOL! I take it that you're a little exasperated with your 17 year old today? Hehe.

Been there! I had 3 teens between with about 3 1/2 years between the oldest and the youngest -- two of them boys. I well remember although I'd rather not remember some of it.
This too shall pass Margie. Hang in there. Boys often take longer to mature than boys. Sometimes you wonder if they ever will ........
