I am Ex-UPC. I was raised in the UPCI and was a very active member during my high school years, but I stopped being religious when I was around nineteen and stopped believing in religion around the age of twenty-one. My life is guided by reason and empathy, and I am a member of the American Humanist Association. I started lurking here recently because of the television issue; my parents are UPCI and if anything (like a split) happens, their lives will be affected.

I am curious, if you dont mind me asking... while you were in the UPC did you have the experience of receiving the Holy Ghost, speaking with other tongues?

If you're referring to the Assembly of God, I thought my answer on that might be fairly obvious.
I'm saying I have an issue with someone walking away from Apostolic truth. But if someone was in an Assembly of God church and left it to go to a church that preaches apostolic doctrine, obviously I wouldnt be bothered by that.

Remember, "Christianity" is not based on a particular view of TV or pants or dress lengths..... To SOME it is, but to put so much weight on such things is like taking a three week trip to Australia and basing the whole vacation on the quality of the peanuts the stewardess gives you on the flight down.
