Re: Apostolic girls and sports
Interesting topic for sure. I do not limit either of my children (I have a boy and a girl) from playing sports etc. I think the disciplines they learn are worth the involvement alone. (i.e. - teamwork, work ethic, etc. -not to mention exercise) As far as the "uniform" - I let tham wear what is required - no need to make my 7 and 8 year old be the sore thumb because of some organizational clothsline standard which at their age, they hardly understand. (Hey, I know alot of adults that don't "understand")
What is interesting to those in the UPCI is that the organization has never relinqushed its stand on competitive sports and physical education. If you had/have a Manual and read it you will see. Makes me kinda of wonder how any pastor who is affiliated can say it is o.k. to be in competitive sports when clearly the org. feels differently. Well I digress!
Seems commonsense really does rule the day on an issue like this. I personally feel it is ridiculous to prevent a child from being involved in sports, esp. when it is an opportunity to interact and build friendships. But i guess some people like the little isolated box to stuff their kids in, even when their seems to be alot of folks who do not follow the teaching, even in the ministry.
Anyway, sorry for the rant.

Skirts in action!
"Since I have been playing random people come up to me and ask me why I wear a skirt, which gives me an opportunity to witness to them and explain about the stand I take. Some people don't understand but I let me them know it's a personal choice and a commitment to God. My grandma is my skirt maker and thread by thread separates my basketball shorts and makes a skirt out of them for me. I also play Volleyball in a skirt. In my future I plan on playing College Basketball and Majoring in Sports Medicine and continuing using my gift to share the Gospel" says Leighlani. Just saw this thread again.
Our girls wear team shirts and culottes.

Re: Apostolic girls and sports
Both of my daughters wore culottes for any and all school sports. Culottes are great.
You rarely see them anymore but if well designed, looks like a skirt.
I still own a few "old" patterns...

Re: Apostolic girls and sports
So how on earth do "sports" for a young girl profit when it comes to child rearing, sewing, and cooking pot-luck food for the church basement fellowships?
I ask this!

Yes but we always insist they wear a long skirt under their uniform

Your lack of teaching your daughter the truth about mens and womens clothing will help send her to hell. Also, If your pastor is not teaching this, he is sending his flock to hell.

What a joke. You have got to be kidding. The bible called it an abomination and you all it a conviction. Read your bible and you might find more truth to explain away as just optional.

The only "joke" is when folks like you come on to a forum, and without ANY Biblical prescidence whatsoever, you make an arrogant blasting statement like this.
Even if you had some revelation of truth, you smash it to pieces with this critical condeming attitude. The Bible is right....He that wins souls is wise.
"Read your Bible and you might find more truth to explain away"....give me a break!! I think this statement is way over the line.
