See this is what I don't understand. That goes COMPLETELY against my experiences. When I was "living for God" my life sucked beyond belief. I was miserable, hopeless, beaten down, and depressed. I spent years believing that I was intrinsically flawed, that I was a horrible terrible person because no matter what I did, it was never enough! I don't know if I can find the right words to describe how truly dark and bleak those years were.
That is what I was trying to say about man-made addition s to the Gospel. My opinion is that you were obviously underneath a set of man made additions that made serving God terrible. But do not throw out the baby with the bathwater. When people find what Jesus was really talking about and filter out all the junk that was added to his words, His word really is true when He said His yoke is easy and burden is light.
The way I cam to grips with this is by getting into the bible for myself, and realizing all I may have been taught was wrong. I sincerely sought God and did not look for loopholes for anything. And this is what Acts 17 described as being more noble. The Bereans took it for themselves and searched the scriptures to see whether what they were told was true or not. When I did that, wow, serving God became AWESOME! And it gets better all the time!
Just because you seemingly were bombarded with extrabiblical error and misinterpretation of the scriptures, does not mean there is no true understanding of the Bible that will give heaven on earth when followed.

And now, now that I am living in "rampant sin", my life is the most peaceful that it's ever been. And I am truly content with my circumstances, my strengths, my weaknesses, my limitations. And though I wouldn't mind a little more in the bank, there is little about my life I would change.
Truly I'm not bitter. I have come to see the good that came out of my time and my experiences. There are character strengths and insight that I gained. And it contributed to the person I am today. But I doubt that I would ever be able to agree that it was "easy".

My thoughts exactly! Your response to Michlow is awesome. Your words are exactly what I was thinking as I was reading her post but I could have never put it into words as you did.

Timmy, there is more to your posts than food for thought. You always have the underlying desire to prove the bible wrong. I have rarely seen such effort put into such a goal.

Trying to believe it has nearly killed me. I know others who can say the same. I know of some who are dead now, because of it. If it works for you, fine. It DOES NOT WORK for everyone. For some, I guess it is hard. Way too hard.

I didn't see that you had written this, could've saved me a lot of time, I could have just used my usual "Yeah, what Timmy said"!
@thelegalist I believe you are putting too high a price on a life that is without salvation!!! If I obtain the whole world and lose my soul what is it worth?? In short you are saying that a life of sin is of some value!! You are also quoting scripture in Matthew which is before Calvary and before the HolyGhost was given!!!!
