God has always been faithful. Even Israel, in all it's unrighteousness was redeemed in Christ.
The unrighteous are not redeemed. He was faithful to his covenant.

Quote:
What is it he's faithful to? The "if you do this, I'll do that" or "I will save you if you believe?"
yes and more.

Quote:
If it's the former, we are right back where we started. My salvation is in my own hands -- I can save myself or ........ myself.
You are saved by his work on the cross which brought about a offering/gift presented to you that you might be saved. Terms of conditions exist whether you like it or not. He gives you new life and reality in relation to him to do his will. The Law upon the heart which was prophecied. Scripture constantly teaches judgment by works. In the end did you do the work he led you to do by his Spirit. = death or life.

Not the Gospel.[/QUOTE]

Good luck showing that in the Story. The term and condition is BELIEVE WHAT I SAY!!!! HAVE FAITH IN ME!!!! I have overcome the world.

I don't deny we will all be judged for our actions. That doesn't place it all in the context of salvation.

Your works focus astounds me.

It's how I finish my last breath, not the relationship in-between? Talk about loopholes! So at the end of time is when this covenant is judged? (BTW, where do we get the idea of "judging covenants." That's not really how they worked in antiquity, or today!)

are you serious?
Again, incredulity but no explanation.

My point is simply you have just negated the whole OT.

AGAIN, what happens WHEN I sin? I'm temporarily out of covenant and I need to scramble to get it right again before I perish and am judged as lost? What happens when we were born again? Just brought into covenant? That's all? You sure? What happens when I sin (which happens to some degree everyday)? You can see the anxiety I have, feeling like the duty to save myself is on me having to live up to terms that are out of reach (not to mention this isn't the Gospel at all).

So you following/being led by the Spirit and being "considered" in right standing is saving yourself? LOL
However you couch the terms, my salvation would be based on my performance. So... yes.

Philippians 2:12-13

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

God's work.

"I am the LORD that doth sanctify you."

Exodus 31:13; Leviticus 20:8, Leviticus 21:8; Ezekiel 37:38; John 17:17-19; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; Jude 1:1.

It's always been that way.

But Luke claims this is a bilateral, conditional thing, based on our good behavior.
