Two ways to interpret the Sabbath Sam. Most believe that the Sabbath signified the age of Grace, resting from works of righteousness according to the Law of Moses. So, for those who accept Christ and obey the Gospel, they have kept the Sabbath.
Then there are strict literalists on this commandment that say that we should actually hallow the seventh day (Saturday).
Me, I believe that I keep the Sabbath in Christ. Also, I choose not to work on Saturdays.

Oh man, if I chose not to work on Saturdays.... Hmm. Wonder if anyone would notice?
Can any of the other nine commandments be obeyed in, er, creative ways?

Hebrews 13:23 Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty
I'm puzzled by the "Fear" thing. We can openly see how Fear has evolved around God, and man's concept of Him, creating what many feel is an “Angry” God. I was vehemently taught as a young convert, "I must fear God and his leaders". Over 30 years have passed, and I've seen the defiant damage this has caused. Fear appears to be a good thing when God is a new and fresh concept, giving the zealous convert a "Fire". But after time, this energy kills its victim with the poison of spiritual pride and self righteousness.
Let's consider the Lake of Fire. Eternal Hell and damnation cannot be found in the Old Testament, and strangely appears in the New Age Church as a terrifying end (total fear) to all who don’t follow man’s idea of God and proper interpretation of the Bible. Jews never taught of such a place, and yet, we blare to the World they will wind up in this horrific pit if they are disobedient.
We criticize the Evolutionists’ as having “Missing Links”, but what about the missing links of Hell? If Hell is real, we should know “For Sure” if we will be sent to this place. No maybes. No what ifs. No guessing. Yet, it’s nothing but a guessing game for the entire World of Religion. Each Faith finds “Their” key or ticket to escape the talons of Hell Fire, but even then so many other complex issues (convictions, salvation, interpretation, ect) leave people in doubt how they hang in the balance of judgment.
Hell makes absolutely no sense. For God to allow humans to propagate for thousands of years so they can populate the belly of Hell, does not portray the God of Mercy and Love we lay claim on. It troubles me that we tell Humanity that God is going to cast over 90% of mankind into this hole where torture and grief are beyond anyone’s wildest dreams for eternity, all because we make mistakes or lack understanding.
It seems "Fear" tactics have grown out of the desire to control the ignorant and unlearned, breeding superstition, condemnation, and hate towards those who don’t believe like us.
Fear provokes a “Saved by Works” faith, and leads us to the lunacy of earning our way out of here. It (fear) also gives power to the manipulator, feeding the bowels of the Hypocrite. Think about it; if the Scribes and Pharisees believed in such a place, this would have been their ultimate theological tool for keeping common people under control and in check, while making themselves look better. Hell (Eternal fire, torture, no hope forever) is the “Nuclear Bomb” of modern Religion.
Fear elevates corrupted Holiness. Fear causes us to grope in the dark and reach for things we cannot attain. Fear kills, slaughters, and maims the innocent. (The Church) uses this fierce contrast (Hell, the unseen) to promote every facet of righteous indignation and reward. We will never reach the utopia of goodness no matter how hard we try. The minute we think we have, is the minute we have fallen.
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
The World needs Love, not Fear. Love covers, heals, sustains, forgives, carries, and crosses all borders. Fear is a disease of the mind and is only another word for “Worry”. Fear has not held my 30 year marriage together. Trust, patience, and learning to love my wife with a full heart has. Fear breeds jealousy, suspicion, and rumors. I don’t want my wife and children to fear me, I want them to love me.
Man has become a pitiful mess with all of his Religious dogma and “What if’s” about God.
Love will give us True Revival, and I believe the Bible does mention that this is what God is.

Its true that the fear of God has little place in peoples heart and mind. Attacking creation. Attacking eternal punishment. Its not as if scripture is not clear on these things. Its that the unregenrate heart of man will have none of it.
Jesus said fear him who has power to cast into Hell. If you fear him THEN you will not have to fear anything or anyone else.
Religous dogma? How about being truthful. Scripture DOES teach these things. Its called "religous dogma" by those who who do not believe them. Its not that its not there.

You say the Scripture is clear; Why is Eternal Hell not in the Old Testament and not taught by the Jews of old?
You say the Scripture is clear; Which Religion is correct and which one is not? Is there room for error?
You say the Scripture is clear; Who is saved, and who is lost? Are you saved, and why?
I sense you think I'm attacking. This is exactly what I'm speaking of regarding the use of Fear. Your attempt to bring me down with fear is to make you look better, and that to question things that can't be proven is rebellion.
I hope that love will somehow appear in our effort to find God. We (people) are so needy and limited, and the Lord knows our frame. We are of a pathetic sort, but love will truly bind us to the most important thing we all need; Mercy and Forgiveness.
Fear is a heartless, empty hole, leaving every Church who enters smothered in self righteous indignation.
If the World will cry, and smote their breast in honesty about who we are, God will not turn us away, but fear will only draw us back to our Robes and Religious Pride.

Wow you think this thread was started to put you down? You were not even thought of when I started it. But it could be that you are one of the ones who need to hear it. I dont apologize for the things Jesus said.
Why dont you go back and read the scriptures I have posted. Chew on them and please MAKE COMMENTS ON THEM. I am just one who is pointing people to look at them. I dont make them up. Much of the disputing and doubt is carried along by people who love to attack on the basis of their own unbelief. They have no desire to look at the scriptures I posted and direct their comments ABOUT THEM.

Please do that.
Fear puts everybody down. That's the problem with fear. We never achieve, or attain the "Good Enough" realm with fear as a motivator. This really has nothing to do with you. Using the tactic of fear was used in my earlier years of being a Christian, but this proved to be a horrible approach in gaining understanding because fear kept me from asking questions that are valid.
I don't know how old you are, but the longer you live, you will see, Fear is the very thing that manipulates people into believing and following lies. To question is rebellion, and the consequence is Hell Fire. Who wants to question that? Who will? Only those who have banished the false fears that keep them up at night.
You will find, fear is very prevalent in the Church today. I've pastored for 14 years and people are worried sick. Worry is only another word for fear. This lets me know, we are bound by fear, not set free by it. Fear is a Taskmaster, and the whip never ceases. We (Humans) can turn into tyrants, forcing our way onto people because we believe and embrace fear.
You still haven't even attempted to answer the questions I've posed. And, I know why. They are not only hard to answer, there really is no answer. To accept that means we leave fear behind us and understand we really are in the dark about a lot of things.
Hell is a place you've never been to, and to claim such a thing would leave you a laughing stock among AFF. Yet, you speak of Hell or Eternal Punishment as a fact. I would suggest you do a little more study on Hell, why it does appear in the New Testament, and how the Gospels came to being.
It is a fact, no authorship of all the Gospels can be proven, and that they were written almost a century after Jesus had died. These are hard things to accept if we have been indoctrinated in our particular Faith. To say, "Jesus said that", is based upon what a man has written, not Jesus. The Catholic Church is known for tampering with Scripture, and our King James Version was translated by those loyal to this form of Religion in England, the first part of the sixteenth century.
One thing that really caused me to ponder all of this was, not a single original manuscript exists, and ancient writings that were used to create the Bible are all copies (Old and New Testaments).
I think there are many unanswered questions, and God see's we are struggling to know what is expected of us. My points are not to cast doubt, but are intended to find the facts. The Truth is what will set us free. Buy the Truth and sell it not. Pure Truth will come to us in the absence of fear.
God Bless, Brother. Heaven may be a very surprising place. BTW, may God’s Love help us with this discussion. I'm surely helpless in seeing the big picture, as my short time on this Earth isn't much longer.
If you dont believe scripture Im sorry for you. You may not realize that you could be destroying others faith also. The Lord does not take kindly to that. You may not be concerned about that right now but it will have eternal consequences.
Do I believe in and teach the fear of Elohim? Thats why I started the thread. To try and stir faith in his word. Do I want people to live under authority to him? Nothing pleases me more.
I still have not noticed you commenting on any scripture I posted. But of course you dont believe in scripture so how could you. My belief and teaching has to do with that only. My exhortation is basically for those who think the Bible is relevant.

Michael, calm down.
You are coming off a little condemnatory.
It's often said, "Love the sinner, hate the sin." But I believe you should, "Love the sinner, hate your own sin."
