Thad...as a dedicated staff member of the church, I think you should lead by example and participate in footwashing. Humble yourself.

It wasn't the people's decisions...it was Pastor's. Anyway....still do not see the significance of Watch Night over any other night.

what other reason to have communion on new years but to start the new year on a good footing

I am fulfilling my assignment

My church is not having nightwatch. There is a local church here that dh and I go to often for revivals and singings and the people have become my church of choice if I need to go somewhere else. It is a Church of God of Prophecy and it is a small church, very spiritual, and very loving. I have been invited on several occasions to give devotionals.

We will meet there tonight at 7:30 and we will sing and pray and several local groups will be coming in to sing for us and then at 9:30 we will go to the fellowship hall and have a "breakfast for supper" meal and then back to singing and praying and worshipping the new year in.

We did this last year with them and it was a wonderful and joyous time. I look forward to the time of worshipping togeather with people that love God.
