(Personally, I would think moderate would be a one piece. Not a bikini.)

I just did a little looking into the history of the bathing suit. Here are some typical swimsuits from the 1920's:

Doesn't look that far off from what some would consider a 'moderate' suit nowadays:

For me, showing my legs, above the knee, isn't moderate. But, I'm going on the "moderate" as a world view. I'm thinking that the suits you have posted may be a world view, but them some think it just means - no thong.

I suppose we are trying to find a balance between world view and a Christian view.

It has always amazed me that the women at the beach who wear bikini swim wear for all to see would be embarrassed if those same folks saw them in their bra and panties. Relativism at its finest!

Very true! I've worn worse and thought I was all right.

Look, you know what? And you know me well enough by now to know this is true Phil.

I'm not a legalist. I wasn't brought up that way. I was brought up UPC but did all the normal things including swimming at beaches and pools (anywhere there was water I was in it if it was swimmable - pretty much anyhow. I LOVE/D the water!) I wore two piece bathing suits at the beach and at the pool. In fact, had my picture in the local newspaper one time in my bathing suit. LOL.

But honestly, whose standards do we judge "modesty" by? Is it modest for a woman to be in a public place with her legs exposed to the crotch or beyond? Her back totally or partially exposed and cleavage revealed?

Whatever convictions I have in regard to this is not a result of rules or because it was drilled into me earlier on. It's about what the truth is in regard to real modesty and what is and isn't Godly and appropriate.

More I could say. Maybe later.

As long as you know that I never said you do!

When you look at the word 'Moderate', it means:

1 a: avoiding extremes of behavior or expression: observing reasonable limits. b: calm, temperate

2 a: tending toward the mean or average amount or dimension

To be moderate would mean that you would find that balance between the two extremes that you are comfortable with.
