I want to post a photo next with your Dad and Aunt [Olive] and their parents.

Here is a photo of the Gray's while missionaries to Japan where their children Olive and David were born. The dedication of the elder Gray's would imbed itself deeply in the spirit of Olive who would one day become the partner that Clyde Haney needed to lay the foundation that would impact Pentecost to this day. The same can be said of David who would become a real friend to his brother-in-law and himself become, without doubt, the most respected teacher of his day.

The irony here is, that in spite of his great dedication to the mission field while others stayed home, today Frank Gray would not be allowed on many UPCI platforms because of the beard he wore.

Sad, isn't it?
I remember 50 years ago when facial hair wasn't an issue in OP churches.
Beards were not common but some men had mustaches and nothing was thought of it.

Thanks for posting this. CJH and DFG became best of friends along with being brother-in-laws. They agreed on most things, along with the 'light' doctrine.(Notice, I didn't say what they believed about the light doctrine oloroid). Being older CJH had a big influence on DFG and during a time that DFG was being unjustly persecuted by the powers of the "White House" and was not allowed to preach at district functions, CJH was the only one that stood up for him. Neither men would be considered 'flashy' in the least but they were men of substance and integrity. I'm fortunate to be able to say I knew and loved them both.

What I always admired about CJ Haney. He wasn't afraid to get right in and work with those of his church as he did here with a group he brought from Stockton to help the neighboring church in Tracy.

I have a great picture in my mind of my uncle Clyde, Kenny, and my father on horses getting cattle into trucks for market. I was only about 7 or 8 but I remember it clearly.

Kenneth Haney gets much credit for bringing CLC to where it's at today and well he should but some of that ability was passed on by his father. Clyde Haney became pastor of Stockton late in 1946 with about 35-40 in attendance. By 1949, when these photos were taken, the attendance was over 150, a new building completed, and a Bible College had been started.
These photos are of the Junior and Senior groups of their Youth Department.

Original faculty of Stockton's Bible college. Left to right: Frank VanBuskirk, Dale Struble, Sam Klein, and Clyde Haney. Formerly all members of the PCI.
