Victory...

Read an article this morning in the June '07 Pentecostal Herald. The following words are not my own, but are penned from the heart of Sis. Nancy Grandquist...they resonate in my inner beings this morning. I have altered the paragraphing for easier reading...

"We must begin the pilgrimage to victory by honest self-evaluation. We must strip away every layer of self-righteous arrogance and admit our desperate need for the living God.

While we disdain this painful process, it is the only way that God can bring us to the ending of ourselves.

It is with a contrite (crushed) heart that our narcissistic motives are shattered and our hidden agendas are revealed and cleansed by the cleansing flood of God's glory and righteousness.

The psalmist said, "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise (Psalm 51:17).

The word broken is translated from a Hebrew word meaning "splintered into pieces."

We must pray that God plumbs the depths of our hearts and extracts every pernicious, pretentious particle of pride and vanity from us. One of satan's foremost tactics is to infect the Church with pockets of poison that would paralyze and render us incapable of experiencing all of God's power and glory.

If we are not watchful, the devil will erect many strongholds in our lives and churches. We must be militant and guard the pure, sacred anointing that embodies our worship to God."

My prayer is heaven help me to walk in victory everyday...all day...in every way.

The very same thing I am asking God as this thing with my foot drags on.

Lord, let me examine myself in your light so that I may be what you want me to be.

It has been said that there is a person others see in you, there is a person you see in yourself, and there is a person God sees.

The latter is the one we need to see as that is the only one that is true!

Victory-I want to walk in it!

Excellent! Pain is horrible to us, but the result is great!

Sis. Grandquist writes...

"Oh, the pain we must bring to our Savior with our pious attitudes that prevent us from partaking of all that God prepared for us personally and also for the Church generally.

A wrong attitude hinders effectual worship and robs us of victory. One prayer that never seems to be far from my lips is, 'Lord, reveal my heart as you see my heart.'

Often the mere whisper of these words causes me to fall on my face filled with despair, sickened by the absolute depravity of my flesh. In my contriteness God does a new work, gathering me in His everlasting embrace.

He faithfully shows me amazing grace and mercy. The result of these blessed moments is that His attributes are formed in me.

I also reach a new level of maturity, because when my will has been melted in the fire of tribulation, my worship becomes acceptable to God."
