Arrow Comments on our new website

I have the layout done on our new website at www.HarvestinBaytown.org

I am tweaking out/proofing the text/fonts and doing the search engine cross linking and meta stuff this weekend before we make it active in another week.

If anyone could, tell me what you like or would change about it.

http://www.harvestinbaytown.org

I appreciate any constructive feedback

Re: Comments on our new website

Looking at the colors on your page, here are my

I like the dark blue/gray/robin's egg blue of the page, but to me, the black background in your header/banner looks a bit funky with the dark blue background of the page.

I would probably use an orange/gold/tan highlighted font in place of the aqua blue font in the right menu. I think it clashes a bit with the Robin's Egg blue you're using, and it might look better with the sunset/wheat of your images.

Is that what you were looking for?

Re: Comments on our new website

Nice looking website. In deference to other opinions, I find dark backgrounds less distracting.

Two things: Welcome message on Home page is a bit long. Shorter welcome= more interest= more reponse.
Picture of the church building. Gives a person a "feel" for the building and, hence the people.

Don't know a lot about web design, so my opinions may not matter. Overall, good loooking site!

Re: Comments on our new website

ya, one of our saints took a bunch of external and internal pictures i will be weaving in there.

the reason i put up alot of content on the front page is because search engines give extra weight to text content on the index page.

Pictures! Don't forget pictures of the church, the pastor and the ministry team. Very important!

Re: Comments on our new website

BELIEFS- Again, long. When one clicks on BELIEFS one expects "Articles of Faith". What does this church believe?

GROWTH- Whats the salt for? Whats the connection? And again- the shorter, more consise the message is, the more attention it will get. (Internet folks seem to have short attention spans).

CHILDREN. Good. Needs a picture of children playing together- promotes a "sense of family".

LEADERSHIP- Good, but who is pastor? Needs pictures of ministerial staff.

Okay, okay, I'll stop nit-picking.

Re: Comments on our new website

i agree with the salt, that may be a little too "inhouse" as far as the meaning goes (be the salt of the earth etc etc).

the beliefs i cant touch since that was a direct cut and paste from our current template website at a different location.
