ABC Forum on Healthcare with President Obama

Unfortunately I was unable to watch this last night as I have mid-week service.

To be honest, I was very skeptical of ABC's gift for a commercial-free promo of the President's healthcare plan. You can bet the farm W would never have been given the same airtime to promote one of his plans - and IF so, there would have been equal time given to the Democrats, which wasn't done here.

This was not a presser, this was a WH infomercial broadcast on one network - with no time given to the other party.

Due to the intense public pressure from the Republicans, I really doubt it was as bad as the Republicans were saying it would be. It'd be suicide for ABC not to throw in a couple token dissenters against BHO's plan. But at the same time, I'm still skeptical of it because of the media's love for BHO.

Now ... with that said, how was it?

Re: ABC Forum on Healthcare with President Obama

Apparently the ABC News forum with the President got terrible ratings ... 1.1mil viewers. I think the President should see that as a sign he needs to re-think his socialistic healthcare agenda. The American public doesn't want it.

Anyone here watch it? Thoughts?

(FACT) it was not commercial free.

(FACT) The first man to give his comments was not for Obama's plan. He is the President of the AMA.

So here is another of your statements that is not correct. That makes two so far.

I thought all you Repugnants were against the Fairness Doctrine? Just like a republican they want it both ways.

Sorry to rain on your fact parade ... In reference to the first "fact" - have you ever heard of commentary? I didn't write a statement, I simply wrote an opinion.

ABC sent the RNC a letter that stated ABC would not allow ads during the show. If that's incorrect, pardon my reliance on ABC's statement.

I'm not a republican, I am and have been a registered Independent. Don't ignorantly assume things.

Actually I don't want the fairness doctrine ... however I do want people to follow the law, and the FTC requires networks to give equal time to opposing parties.

What you wrote was not a opinion, you made a statement. When someone has an opinion they say so, you didn't. You stated it as fact.

Re: ABC Forum on Healthcare with President Obama

The situation regarding advertisements during the ABC / Obama infomercial was that ABC would not allow any advertisements that offered opposing viewpoints to the President's plans to socialize healthcare.

Despite the fact ABC is in the tank for Obama 98% of the time my understanding is that they did allow some tough questions to be asked and the answers I heard from the President highlighted his inability to persuade beyond the words on a teleprompter.

He has a calming, soothing, pleasing demeanor but not many coherent answers to questions about his plan.

I believe enough Americans have drank the koolaid and beieve they can get something for nothing to the point that socialized medicene is probably inevitable.

The thought that the same folks who run Medicaid and Medicare will run healthcare for all of us is frightning.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: ABC Forum on Healthcare with President Obama

I thought it was funny that Jeff Immelt (pres of GE who owns NBC) had his network jilted in favor of the All Barack Chanel.......After all Keith Olberman does for BHO on MSNBC.......But BHO wants all three networks in his pocket for good.........so he knows how to pass the goodies around.

I am not frightened at all Ferd, I am on Medicare and have no problem when I need treatment. It works fine. I recently had surgery but had to wait 4 mo. because my doctor was that busy. The wait was not caused by Medicare. I paid $ 30.00 for the Hospital and $25.00 to my doctor. The total cost of the surgery $45,000.00.
I would say Medicare and my Humana supplement is pretty good insurance. I pay $ 98.00 per mo. for this coverage.

I'm not going to argue semantics with you. It was written as commentary, not as a statement of fact.

That's not a statement of fact. If you can't distinguish between the two, read the commentary sections of magazines, newspapers, etc. While some political commentary has a disclaimer, they generally don't preface their comments with a statement verifying it to be only their opinion.
