What's the Point of a Civilian Trials

The president and other admin officials have made definitive public statements that KSM and other terrorists that they want to put on trial will be found guilty and executed.

But isn't the point of a civilian trial that innocence is presumed and that the accused is given a fair shot at being found "not guilty"? With these public statements by the POTUS and others, couldn't the defense make the case that their clients cannot get a fair trial?

The undoing of this admin is that they are idealogues. In the face of the obvious, they stick to their nutty logic.

Possibly by this administration's insistence that the defendant(s) will be found guilty in a civil trial there is basis for a mistrial and the terrorist(s) will go free.

If you don't mind me asking... what is the "obvious" thing that you refer to when you speak of "in the face of the obvious"?

Re: What's the Point of a Civilian Trials

To normal, average, every day citizens, you don't take enemies in warfare and treat them like civilians. You don't mirandize them. You don't give the right to remain silent. You don't tell them that any thing they say can and will be used against them. You follow the precedents of US history during warfare. You use military tribunals. You interrogate until you exhaust the source.

That's obvious to people who are free from the Beltway, the media centers, academia and the entertainment industry. We don't impress our enemies with our justice system. And these people, this administration, are not interested on putting on display what a just nation we are. If they were, they would not be stating the outcome before the trial.

Our system is just because of the presumption of innocence. Its just because it gives our citizens the right to a fair trial. Its just because our Constitution guarantees such. But the US Constitution is for "We the People of the United States of America", not for terrorists who have admitted to being involved in actions that led to the deaths of American citizens.

The liberal idealogy is bent on self righteousness rather than national security. Self-congratulations leads them to flawed policies.

Its pretty obvious to me.

In my opinion, terrorists are enemies and should be treated as such and not given the rights of a citizen.

Exactly, they have no rights to our citizenship.

But again I don't think we have an AMERICAN president. He hasn't acted like one yet, IMO.

What about those held at Guantanamo but have, since, been found to be innocent and released after years of false imprisonment?
