Tiger Woods' Statement
Anyone see this? Anyone care what he had to say? If so, your opinions?

Re: Tiger Woods' Statement
I didn't listen to it, but I read some comments on FB and they went from - don't care - - insincere - - heartfelt.
BUT, the post that stuck out the most to me was one that said, "when someone apologizes - - I want to listen. It's the fair thing even though it may seem laughable or senseless. The Bible says I get forgiveness based on how I give it. Therefore, I will rush to give it everytime. I never know when I'll need it, but I do know that I will".
I thought that was a good way to look at it.

Re: Tiger Woods' Statement
Yes, I saw it all...
Do I care, as in, is it any of my business, or does it matter to me about a stranger's life?
In that sense, no, I don't care, for in the final analysis, this is between he and his wife, as well as he and his business partners, who may suffer from his bad judgment.
Do I think it is sad?
Yes, it is very sad that a family has to go through this mess.
In my opinion, he seemed genuinely broken and contrite...I wish he and his family well.

I didn't see it, but, frankly, if it was me, I'd tell folks that it was really none of their business, it was between my family and myself.
He doesn't claim to be a spiritual leader, or a role model, he's just an excellent golfer whose skills have propelled him in the public eye, and into corporate sponsorships. He doesn't have to answer to the public about his private life.
If the corporations want to pull their sponsorships, that's their prerogative, I'm sure he would agree.
Either way, he's just a "slob doing his job" in Jeff Arnold's words.

Re: Tiger Woods' Statement
Tiger admitted that he is the only one to blame, admitting, "I was unfaithful." He also apologized to his family, friends and fans, and said he thought he played by different rules because of money and fame, but agrees that those "actions were wrong."
So sad that many feel this way.

I have a lot of work to do, and I intend to dedicate myself to doing it. Part of following this path for me is Buddhism, which my mother taught me at a young age. People probably don't realize it, but I was raised a Buddhist, and I actively practiced my faith from childhood until I drifted away from it in recent years. Buddhism teaches that a craving for things outside ourselves causes an unhappy and pointless search for security. It teaches me to stop following every impulse and to learn restraint. Obviously, I lost track of what I was taught.
|
Buddhism isn't going to help him. The only change he'll find is through Jesus Christ. Until then, he'll continue to wander and be empty.
