Bernards with Beards?

This picture was sent out to all UPCI ministers at Christmas. Perhaps I'm missing something, but are there beards in this photo? I don't mean to be nit-picky, but if so that would be a rather strong statement from the GS of the UPCI. Beards are pretty much an anathema for many. I must confess, I was quite shocked.

Well, I don't think the womens hair is up high enough, It looks like the baby has lost a shoe - how disgraceful, The Bishop does NOT have on a white shirt and tie and to beat it all - they are supposed to be APOSTOLIC and they are SMILING like they are up to something! Personally, I don't care. However, as a member of the UPCI for over 40 years this is certainly new ground. I can't recall a leader publicly promoting such a view.

Actually, I'm refreshed and pleasantly surprised. It's high time the beard taboo in the UPCI is banished. I see this as a good sign.

If I were that concerned with the Bishop's grown children - I would email him and just rebuke him for sending out a nice card with what looks like NORMAL PEOPLE on it and say - I AM SHOCKED THAT SOMEONE IN YOUR FAMILY HAS FACIAL HAIR! Lord have mercy!

Wow! Am I the kook? When I said I was shocked, I meant in a "wow what a statement" way, not a "man this is awful" way. Perhaps I should have made that clear. I have a great deal of respect for Brother Bernard, now more than ever.

AB, you just don't get it. I don't see anything wrong with this picture. I'm just trying to point out how it is a departure from the past. If you can't see that, then you are not very close to the conservative/moderate core of the UPCI over the last 40 years.
