Consider it in the context of the entire Bible.
Consider that he was using metaphors and was describing a woman who was full of finery, but had a golden cup full of abominations and fornications. That even though she looked splendid, she was wicked inside.
Consider the fact that God's bride was several times described in much the same way, minus the cup full of abominations.
Consider the fact that you can't say - "See, see!! She was wearing jewelry, that means it's a whore's adorning!!!" and completely ignore the fact that she was also wearing red and purple.
|
Consider how the logic of some is suddenly reversed 180 degrees when it comes to defending the outward "holiness" of the pharisee. "Jesus was only criticizing their inward holiness!" is what is usually heard.

I pointed that out to him. I posted all the verses
What is interesting is everything that was pointed out to this person either went way way over his head or he was pretending to be obtuse

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
- There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
- The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
- Every sinner must repent of their sins.
- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

You really think "jewelry" was thier problem? Really? Their problem was idolatry and EVERYTHING that came with it, especially sexual perversion and child sacrifice.
Do you think God would give them "jewelry" knowing they "couldn't handle it." How ridiculous.

He's not saying that his blessings were a sin. It was their forgetting HIM that was a sin!

Malachi 3:16-18 KJV
16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
17 And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
18 Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.
I once hear a sermom, "The Church, God's Jewelry Box".

Written and recorded by Hank Williams Sr.
The ceremony was over
A lad stood alone in tears
For he had just said goodbye
To the one he had loved thru the years.
He stood all alone with his head bowed down
As though his heart would break
Then the Parson came over and took his hand
And to him these words he did say.
CHORUS
When God comes and gathers his jewels
All his treasures of diamonds and gold
You'll meet her up there in heaven so fair
When God comes and gathers his jewels.
(Substitute I'll meet her.....on last chorus)
Each night when the pale moon is shining
You can see this lad all alone
With his eyes lifted to'ard heaven
He's repeating these words he was told.

Working on it. Will be published when I have it all figured out.
Revelations is slowing me down, though.

yeppers,
I would guess only the senior members here would remember stuff like that, the golden oldies or moldy oldies. At one time they were "contemporary."
