I think we often miss the eternal significance of the cross and all that Jesus did for us. We think of it as a bank account He filled in the first century that we must draw from. We often don't see it as a ransom He paid for us, unbeknownst to us, without our permission, while we were lifeless, cold, and dead in sin.

Beautiful post. But what about the martyred that hasn't received the HG. Do they die in their sins? Was that what God wanted from them before the foundations of the world? They loved not their lives unto death from the point of their own faith but haven't fully received Acts 2:38 like most of us.

Don't get me wrong, I am glad to have been baptized and filled w/God's Spirit. The Holy Ghost is one of the the most precious things that God gave me; but I am more happy that he gave me forgiveness when I repented of my sins.

Just a quick serious question... Do you think of speaking in tongues at all when you say this?

Re: Remitted on the Cross or not?
The whole process is by God's mercy and grace.
The cross is where Jesus died and shed his blood for the remission of my sins
When I understand what Jesus has done for me on the cross, my heart melts and I turn away from the world and towards Christ
When I read the bible, I understand that it is his desire that I am baptized in his name
When I yield myself to him he fills me with his Spirit and I speak in tongues. He gives me his Spirit so that I might be led by his Spirit.
All the theological wrangling may help me to see some of the finer points, might help me to understand how the original languages could be interpreted, but in the long run, it doesnt change the basics.

Re: Remitted on the Cross or not?
when I consider my PCI brethren, it gives me hope for the mercy and grace of God toward the larger body of Christ
when I consider my PAJC Brethren, I am compelled to speak of baptism and the infilling of the HG.
when I consider my UPC brethren, I am compelled to pray for a spirit of tolerance and compassion and revival to overcome the judgemental, controlling, and legalistic attitude of some.

This is so absurd in so many ways. First if you was personally saved in eternity Jesus came and died in vain. Individual predestination is a Calvinistic heresy NOT preached by the Apostles nor Jesus.
Eternity had a plan but the plan without the reality of the plan would be without power.
The PREDESTINATED PLAN is salvation through His blood & resurrection by obeying Acts 2:38. The ONLY way to experience the Blood is by faith obeying the gospel. My friend forum life has not been good for you.

So Bro Epley, what do you make of this scripture?
Eph 1
3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
It says God chose us in Christ Jesus before the foundation of the world.

My friend we are chosen IN HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Christ is the basis for our election not some mystical choosing of "I choose you and not him." Read all of Ephesians 1 the key phrase is "IN HIM." Every blessing-benefit-eternal salvation is "IN HIM."
The adoption takes places when you and I choose by faith to obey the gospel.
ONLY in obeying Acts 2:38 is one placed into that predestinated church where Christ is the Head of the Body. We are BAPTIZED INTO HIM. Gal.3:27, Rom.6:3

Eph 1:4
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
The scripture clearly says the choosing was done before the foundation of the world...

Why captialized "before the foundation of the world" and leave out the crux which is "IN HIM?" Our election is ONLY "IN HIM" not in some fanciful Calvinistic choosing which makes God the adminstrator of sin. If God chooses persons to go to hell then He does have pleasure in the death of the wicked.(Ezk.18:23) God does tempt men with evil. ( James 1:13) Both are against His character as God. My friend you cannot have the individual election of the righteous without the individual election of the lost. Can't be a winner without a loser. Those are the facts. Now it is the WILL OF GOD for ALL men to be saved. (1Tim.2:4)
The scripture clearly teaches we are BAPTIZED INTO CHRIST. Gal.3:27, Rom.6:3
