Well, I have made comments on this or some recent thread that I'm sure many might call "unpatriotic," so I'd like to say that I just hate "you get what you deserve" when we as Christians know "the Government shall be on His shoulders," and where many would see a prophecy, I interpret a command. So, patriot. Also, you can have a special place in your heart for your homeland without bowing at an altar you know to be corrupt, and it is amazingly freeing, the more you are able to dissociate yourself from...all that, in whatever way you can.
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Only those who do not study what is expected of Christians end up being gullible about those in authority, money and other aspects of life.
And...I'm sorry, but many pastors will not get down into current events and warn the people about how we are being deceived by Satan in our world today.
Was murder outlawed in the NT and perfectly fine in the OT?
Besides. If you kill someone on orders from God, it wouldn't be murder. Would it?

But we're getting off topic. The topic (which itself is off topic from the thread! ) is how to know of God is talking to you.
BB, has anyone ever attempted to use the method you gave us, and failed? I.e., in a case where God actually spoke to someone (through an emissary, if you like) and the method resulted in a "no" answer, or a case where God did not speak and the method gave a "yes"?

I can only speak from personal experience, and while I've had answers that weren't clear at the time once or twice, the reason why kind of made a point of getting my attention in both cases later. I wonder if anyone would admit to any trouble here, lol, not a good thing. i'm trying to recollect any further problems, but no, I had none. it was a bit strange the first couple times, as the answer returns in your voice; I was getting kind of skeptical, but trusting, when I got an answer I didn't expect, in my own voice, which let me tell you you don't ever disagree with yourself with this voice, it's always the one on your other shoulder, lol, it was weird. Memorable.
I never lived in the Old Testament times. I couldn't tell you.
Quote:
God isn't going to tell me to kill anybody.
Glad to hear that. I agree. But the Bible says otherwise, and it is claimed to have happened in the modern era, several times. In some cases, it has resulted in "obedience" and deaths.

So, at least a few times, it didn't work for you. Wouldn't you suppose that it has failed for other people, too? Perhaps many times?
This proves that this method is not fool-proof. If it doesn't always work, it doesn't always work. Period.
Furthermore, it's quite certain that some of the people who say it works are sometimes wrong. Of what value is a supposed method of testing an alleged message from God, if the method is unreliable? If you can't tell when it worked correctly? Anyone who thinks the test passed, including you, could simply be deluded.

Hmm, I didn't say it didn't work for me, but that I was still coming to an understanding of it, and my unclear answers were satisfied later.
The method is fool-proof, except for fools, and as evidence I present the relevant Bible verses. If you find that it doesn't edify you, then by all means don't use it! And don't expect it to provide irrefutable proof of God's existence if you currently doubt; this does not exist for that, I'm pretty sure.
And for future ref, nothing I ever say should provide proof, for a sensible person at least, that a Biblical method for anything, described in detail in the Bible, is not "fool-proof."
I see your reasoning here, Timmy, and I undertand it. I'd like to communicate to you, in any way possible, that if you keep looking for ways to possibly get zapped, then you will prolly get zapped, and I am sorry that Abba is presented to us like this, so that we become frozen out of fear. Trust that your father loves you, and you will demonstrate life, more abundantly when you forget most of the dung presented to you in "church."
