Useless? I don't think so. The New Testament Church is quite clear about what God's people may or may not do.
That is why the Holy Spirit is given to people who seek the Lord.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Only those who do not study what is expected of Christians end up being gullible about those in authority, money and other aspects of life.
And...I'm sorry, but many pastors will not get down into current events and warn the people about how we are being deceived by Satan in our world today.
