So you were obviously deep in sin! (actually my pastor had a great attitude and we did have a Christmas tree and comic books in our house and he would just joke about it when he came over)

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

I don't recall any specific examples or him preaching about it from the pulpit (although he probably did). It was just a given that you didn't watch or have a tv.
What is widely thought of as true and I don't doubt it is that Gunsmoke being on Sunday nights before DVR's caused the demise of most churches having a Sunday night service (non Pentecostal services of course). I have read that speculation from reputable sources. If true I think it was probably partially due to people just being burned out from two services on Sunday and wanting some down time to relax.

only they weren't called "capri's" back in the day. They were called "petal pushers" in my neck of the woods.
Don't ask why such a silly name...I dunno.

Women wore them for bike riding, and they were short so that the cuffs didn't get tangled up in the pedals of the bike - hence, pedal pushers.

I'm not being critical....really! Just pointing out the things that I remember. And, yes, to be honest, I wish things had not changed so much in our churches. For some time now, I've not liked the direction some of our churches have been going in. But that doesn't stop me from loving all...and rejoicing with any good news you have to offer...God bless!

Well we left UPC 21 years ago now. But I still love the Lord!

I've always wondered why Bikers put both feet on the ground when they come to a red light or stop sign?

I think it was pedal pushers not petal. LOL!! As someone else mentioned they were used a lot for riding bikes since women's regular pants might get caught in the chain.

Re: Charismatic
I am a Trinitarian Pentecostal (in the technical sense of the word).
In the technical sense, I am a Pentecostal as opposed to a Charismatic. That is, I believe that tongues is the initial evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit.
However, it depends on what definition you are using. If you mean Charismatic in the broadest sense of the word, nearly all if not all of us on this board would be "Charismatic" since we are not cessationists.
