They probably removed it either because it was outdated or he wanted to "sell" you another virus package.

the best defense really is to be diligent

I never EVER accept app requests on Facebook.

Never click links from emails unless you were expecting one

When you visit a website and a popup requests you hit "ok" or "cancel" be very careful, that could be a dropper

If a popup warns about virus's make sure it says the name of YOUR anti virus program, otherwise it's probably a rogue trying to infect your PC

Your friend should change her password

I don't like AVG. I used to put it on everyone's PC. I switched to Avast
