Congratulations! Nursing school is difinately a whirlwind and I don't know how people do it while working full-time, I've never been able to. I became an LPN in 1991 a few months before my kids turned 11 and 13. In 97 I became an RN, with an associate's degree and now I'm half way through my BSN. Each time I said I wouldn't go back again but I've always had co-workers and family who encouraged me to go on. This time, instead of saying I won't go back again, I am staying open to the possibility that I may return for my MSN.
Hey, that's great! Congratulations to you! I'm getting ready to leave here for clinicals in a few minutes. I do much better behind a computer than standing in front of people trying to perform. Unless I'm singing. Maybe I can sing the assessment. LOL!

Emma doesn't come around as much as much as she used to. As a matter of fact, a couple of weeks ago, I took down some Amish pictures (paintings) I had in my living room. Emma is offended that I don't go to church anymore. She says "Lawsuits and people smashing out your husband's truck windows, cancer or no, you best get your little heinie down to church or your goin' to hell". As you can see, we don't have much in common anymore.
She's such an inspiration.

Emma's right about getting your "heinie" back into fellowship with the body of Christ wherever that may be. I don't see how anyone can be in the will of God and not fellowshipping with his people. Thankfully, God is longsuffering. 1 Cor 12.
As for nursing school, I found the best way to study for a test (since most of them involve a lot of memorization) was to take good notes in class. Review your notes and what you don't understand try to supplement with information in the books. Then condense your notes onto note cards and quiz yourself. Find someone to study with for tests. I would go over my note cards three to four times before the test and would get good grades. When taking the tests, answer the questions, put a question mark or asterisk beside the ones in which you weren't sure of the answer, then go back and look at those questions again. Nursing tests are tricky. You can usually eliminate two answers right off, but then two other answers might both sound right.
I went to nursing school with three children under 12 years of age as a single parent. It was tough but doable especially with God's help and strength. I've been working as an RN since '95 and I have 5 more classes to finish for a BSN. Then I'm not sure what I'll do.
God bless you.

Thanks for the note cards idea. I have not used note cards for any of my pre-reqs but that sounds like a good idea. Congrats on being so close to getting done with your BSN. I don't have any CNA experience so I will probably get hired doing the grunge RN nursing work, but that's okay for a little while.

Hey, thanks for the input! I have put everything in a little calendar....color coded so I know which class it is for. I am on my way to clinicals and am a little less brain dead than I was last night.
Congrats on being an instructor. So you have a masters?
No, I have a BSN. But at the time I was teaching an MSN wasn't required in my state. I'm "semi retired" now, meaning I keep my license but don't work in nursing. These days I'm a church administrator and Gran B. But, I do miss the teaching. Might pick up a part time at a local private college next quarter. I'm too old to keep up with all the youngsters these days! LOL
