Re: How the T. Drost Situation Is effecting Me

In order to "submit to those who have rule over you," and in order for "everything to be done with decency and in order", the would be AIM'er who wants to go to Mexico needs to wait.

God is Sovereign.
If He has called you knowing that your understanding was that He was going to use you through the UPCI, He will either make His Calling for you so clear while opening another door that will be IMPOSSIBLE to reasonably refute as an act of GOD or He will work things out with the UPCI.

You could always leave the UPCI, but in this situation, I think that decision would be a bit hasty.

God has ordained human government.
God has ordained church government.
You need to wait.

Yeah...charmed.
1. No one makes a missionary give up SQUAT. They go of their own accord. Don't sign up if you're going to whine about the mission.

2. Missionaries (UPC) are 100% funded. They get appliances, vehicles, great retirement, birthday and Christmas gifts and many times use the natives as personal servants.

I'm trying to understand what's so rough about the gig. Also find it hard to offer sympathy.

God will protect missionaries there. I've heard stories, anyway. (And sometimes, well, He decides not to protect them. )

That is true. If you feel called of God and something stops you for a while, you might find out later it was for a reason. I certainly wouldn't go to Mexico unless God put a very strong burden on my heart to go there - Or any country for that matter.

Because of the T.W. Drost situation.

That's right. The Great Commission as it relates to Mexico is on hold because of one man. Souls do not matter. Obeying Christ's command does not matter. Let's play denominational politics here and let the world go to hell.

Sorry, but I've had enough. This kind of garbage simply is not of God. It's bad enough we still have the antiquated "deputation" system where missionaries have to leave the field for 1-2 years at a time in order to beg the church to continue to support them. But now this?

I'm seriously thinking of just going at it alone as an independent. Do I really want to bring new converts into such an unhealthy spiritual environment? Allot of this comes from the false, unbiblical idea that allot of these ministers have that they are SSOOO important and needed by God to begin with. I completely disagree with T.W. drost's attitiude. But I think the UPCI is making a huge mistake by taking this "wait and see" attitude when it comes to Mexico. They could still send missionaries and tell them to stay out of political affairs of IPUM and just be about the Father's business.

Thank you for letting me vent.
Do you know why they recalled the missionaries exactly? Maybe there was a threat against them? Or maybe the government wanted them out

  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

The part of Mexico I'd be going to is within the safe zone. No travel advisories.

It was because Drost went on YouTube accusing them of having been "out to steal his job" all along, and that they also were the leaders of the group that broke away from his authority and started the new group. What he failed to mention is that the new group elected a Mexican national to be their General Superintendent. Anyway, the UPCI felt that , for the protection of the missionaries against false accusations bt Drost, that it was best for them to come home, and that all further missions efforts should be put on hold.

If you have means to go, GO! Start something fresh. Pave the way for others to follow. Don't worry about that Drost guy. He's going home soon.
