If the comments of Bro. Strange were made...about the music being idol worship and demonic...is that not slamming a church or minister? I thought we do not do that here. Go back to my hiding until the hypocricy stops.

The reason it is becoming okay...and there is much discussion happening is because the Mangun's are looked at as being "Charismatic" and "Liberal Pentecostals."...so open game. If this was said about another church...let's say Mooney's church (where some of the same songs were sung)...wonder how long this type of discussion would have continued.

Mooneys church is full of tv, and is gone charismatic too!

IF you read the initial post, there was only a mention of Bro Strange's dismay of what he sensed within his spirit concerning the LA campmeeting itself. He did not name anyone by name.

Get a life here, he literally posted that the UPC of Louisianna, with music led by the POA, was akin to demonic worship...where was your outrage then...

OH, could it be that it wasn't some UC hoedown music therefore it is alright to attack them...????
Good post!!

Here is Rev. Strange remarks concerning the worship from this nite.

"Moses coming down the mountain heard strange music. He heard a strange sound. He knew something was wrong from the sound. Someone could have said, "Oh never mind, Moses, these young people have come up with their own sound. They ware worshipping the Lord in their own way and music."

Moses would have known better. He was right. The music was the sound of worship of an idol made of gold. Such sounds will always be different than that of divine consecreation music. The sound of the uncircucised should not be hard to recognize for those that have their ears and eyes turned toward heaven.

I am hearing the worship of an idol. While we have stood stoutly with our standards at the front door of the church, the enemy has slipped in through the back door and has erected an idol in our very midst, under our noses and we did not see it coming. "

The songs that were sung that nite were "There is No God Like Our God", "How Great Is Our God", "How Great Thou Art", "When I Speak Your Name" and "To Worship You I Live".

According to Rev. Strange, this was the music that caused the "Idol Worship" and "weird chanting".

You possibly need to use caution when using these songs in your worship service!!
I totally understood what BS said about the music, and I don't believe it to be in the literal sense.

So it is not OK to question Bro. Strange even though he questioned openly the spirit of an entire district?

Should the fact not be seen? Or does it just bother you that the "demonic chants" on the campground were some of the most used worship choruses in Pentecost...including the very traditional "How Great Thou Art?"
Has it occured to you that since he was feeling something others weren't that perhaps he was hearing something others weren't also? That's how I took his words.

It occurs to me that there was a very harsh judgment made concerning the style of music beng used in worship by some very capable people.

It occurs to me that there were many seasoned preachers and ministers in the auditorium that obviously had no problem with the spirit of the thing, including the Manguns...seeing MM and their praise team was in charge.

It occurs to me that it seems OK to lamblast the campmeeting as being "other spirited" or demonic and one gets a pass because of age.

It occurs to me that some on this forum will defend this one man's sentiment to the hilt just because of where this offense came from (LA Dist.) and who actually propagated this "demonic spirited worship" akin to the golden calf of Moses' fame (the POA praise team).

It occurs to me that Bro. Strange went too far in his comments.

It occurs to me that feelings can be deceptive...even if you are older.

It occurs to me that there are still a whole bunch of people who worship because of style and not because of content.

It occurs to me that if you pay more attention to the lyrics than you do to the genre and you might actually find God in the song!

HO, if you can understand what Bro. Strange said, can you help me and clarify what the sounds of divine consecrated music sounds like??

I would love to know!

Such sounds will always be different than that of divine consecreation music."
