My dad was a cop. On this he always said, "Don't carry a gun unless you're prepared to use one." A man without a gun cannot easily shoot another human.
My dad and I both were cops. we agree with your dad.
That does not mean i intend to rid myself of firearms.

Lets see now...I personally have 2 shotguns, one muzzleloader, one .22 pistol, three rifles, and a compound bow.
My husband has 2 shotguns, one rifle, one muzzleloader, one .44 mag pistol, one 357 mag, one 9mm, one 308, and a couple other pistols I think...and a compound bow.
We both hunt. He also collects. And we'd both shoot in self defense without hesitation.
When we lived in the Memphis area and a certain man got angry with my husband and threatened to come to our house and do bodily harm to ME, my husband said, go ahead and try it. She'll meet you at the door with a loaded
.44 and she won't hesitate to use it.
Nice gun...knickel plated, pearl grips, belches fire out the barrel, a little hard on the ole wrists though.
But mostly we just hunt...BOW SEASON APPROACHES!
oh my. this was a wonderful post. Lady Rev, you are one awesome lady.

So, did the father's of those Saul (later Paul) persecuted love their families when they did not fight back? Why did they not react as you describe? As a matter of fact, why is it there is no biblical or historical record of the early church responding your way?
I would guess that it's one thing to go against the prevailing authority and another to protect oneself for a criminal.
Jesus forwarned the destruction of Jerusalem and warned them to flee.
In any confrontation it is either flee or flight. I guess what we have is a discussion on choice of weapon, prayer or pistol.
I was taught to avoid trouble if possible.

Wow, sure a lot of tough guys (and gals?) on this thread.
Sister LR, I remember a time an individual I knew years ago told another tuff the same threat. Well, the tough guy took the offer and went to the guy’s home. True to his word the natural born killer was waiting at his front door with weapon in hand. The guy who went to parlay with the hero just punch out the gas pedal in his dualie and drove the truck right through the front of the house while Clint Eastwood was banging off rounds. I think they found our gun-toting hero somewhere around the truck's rear axles.
Anyway it's pretty smoked that you take such pride in your willingness to take a life and do it with such zeal.
Sister, you don't know me from Adam's house cat.
I want to tell you something. Not some, but everyone, whom I have heard speak like you are cowards.
They loose their bodily functions when placed in the path of someone who they just shot at, with a weapon like your husband's 357, and the insane lunatic is still coming at them, smiling like Kool-Aid man.
Law enforcement look at people who make boasts like you as a high risk, not only to themselves, but also to everyone around them.
I have been pretty surprised by some responses on this thread. Let me tell you, yours wins the prize for the most vulgar. Vulgar because you are supposed to be a "preacher" and an Apostolic Holy Ghost filled person.

Quote:
Residence Visits.
Another potentially very dangerous situation involving extremists is the residence visit. Police officers may have to visit the homes of extremists for a variety of reasons, but they are unlikely to find a welcome mat.
Residence visits are potentially dangerous for numerous reasons.
The officer is on the "home turf" of the extremist. Especially if the officer is at the home merely for a routine visit, he or she may have little or no knowledge of the layout of the property or the interior of the home. The extremist, on the other hand, will have extensive knowledge, and in remarkable cases, may have made extensive preparations. In rural areas, homes are often located so that they cannot be observed from roads or other vantage points. Observation posts, gun slots, and even escape tunnels have all been reported.
The extremist may call out for reinforcements. While a law enforcement officer may be at the door, an extremist may be at the telephone, unbeknownst to the officer, calling for his or her own backup. Thus reinforcements for the extremist may arrive, perhaps angry or armed. What started off as a routine visit may end up as a standoff or confrontation.
The home may be armed/fortified. Some extremists turn their homes into virtual fortresses. The grounds around the residence are cleared in order to have unimpeded fields of fire.
Windows are sometimes boarded up and walls and doors reinforced.
Officers have discovered houses where extremists had placed loaded firearms in every room for easy and immediate access to weaponry. Some extremists also design elaborate booby traps.
Looks like some of you Pentecostal Rambos can make the grade with Law Enforcement.

Nothing wrong with going the other way. As a matter of fact, the early church used the "exit stage right" method many times.
