Re: UPC Driving the Women Away?
I liked Margies answer. It made me laugh. I have known those to be in love with the Pastor. I don't think thats denominal. I think there are those in every religon that are in love with the Pastor. He's the perfact man compared to what? haha
I don't ever remember being driven off by UPC anything. Dedications and consecrations and plain bible ought to be our heartbeat. The problem is when we just embrace things because someone said them and not because we feel its bible and do it for Jesus. Then the man or whomever is teaching them lets us down and we drop the thing we never really held dear anyway.
There are some groups however that encourage the men in the church to Lord over their wives like Muslims do. That is what is running off the women.

Re: UPC Driving the Women Away?
In the UPC church that I was part of, I would say the opposite was true. The women were practically running everything, and most of the men were just there as arm ornaments....if they were there at all.

I wore long sleeves, long dresses, didn't cut my hair, got rid of my wedding rings, got the TV out of the housel, and then the preacher told a lie on me. So I left that church. But you know there was something about the sacrifice that I made, God seemed to have bless me more during that time. May be that is what is wrong with many church folks, they do not make sacrifices, you know being a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto Him, which is our reasonable service. So I found out in my 36 years the more you sacrifice, God rewards you more with his blessings.

Cindy,
Very true!
A woman who loves her husband is usually willing to allow her body
to be "sacrificed' to bring children into that home. It is very natural
for a woman to become a mother of her own children. There are some
exceptions.
She will go through a sickness (morning) that is like unto no other,
for a few weeks, or sometimes the whole nine months. The dis-
comfort of carrying a burden, especially the last few weeks and
then the real "labor" begins. Many today will not willingly go through
much for whatever reason. In the natural OR in the spiritual.
Not for offense.
Blessings,

I think at some point we need to seriously consider the lawfulness of multiple wives then, because the men are already outnumbered.

Does your current wife read this forum? Should we start prying for your safety and perhaps healing now?

Re: UPC Driving the Women Away?
Maybe the following reasons are factors:
I think that men naturally are more independent and less emotional than women. Women are by nature more trusting than men.
I believe the more emotional a particular church becomes, the more appealing it is to women. For instance, my wife likes movies that make you cry, but I prefer an action packed movie. We have different tastes. She will drag me along from time to time to watch an emotional movie, but I go just to keep the peace!
I think men are willing to tackle problems on their own before seeking help, while women are more quick to seek help.
