Let us know if any of your charges share stories of catching any evil doers who were carrying more cash than they were comfortable with.

We will all feel safer knowing that only cashless or minimally cashed people are traveling on Americas airplanes.

There is employment hope for the disturbed according to the video.

This same government is irrational. They don't have check points for cars and do random car stops and searches. They also are not checking all boats that depart from marinas.

You WANT there to be checkpoints for cars, do random car stops & searches & check all boats that depart from Marina's?

Actually, no; I had to have at least four years office clerical experience, take a civil service job aptitude test (internal only), pass a local police background check, FBI background check, and TSA national security background check. The position also required a polygraph test. If you’ve never had one of these, they are nerve racking. They ask the craziest stuff. Since it’s within the airport division of the local Police Department it is essentially the same process as 911 police dispatch or police officer. You couldn't interview right off the street for this one. This position makes just under $20 an hour with government benefits (which of course I already have because I'm currently a government account reconciler).

How did they bust you and your pocket knife? a metal detector? Admitted law breaker.
I'm a straight up gangsta! Yeeeeaaaaahhhh. lol

No seriously. I was entering the police department with a Police Lieutenant who will be my direct report. At the entrance we have to pass through a metal detector to enter the administrative offices. I put all my belongings, including my pocket knife in the little tray they give you. At that point one of the officers said, “Sorry, you’ll have to take that knife out to your car. We can’t let you in with it.” I said, “Can you guys hold on to it until I’m done?” The officer said, “Nope. You’ll have to take it out of the building.” So I took it out to my car and put it in the glove compartment. I’ve stopped carrying it because of the nature of the work I’ll be doing.

He isn't in a mess. They exceeded their authority. He called their bluff. They let him go. He didn't even miss his flight.

The "mess" is the trouble the over zealous agents are going to be in if he pursues legal channels.

He was right and they were left with egg on their face.

They were the ones who tied themselves up detaining a man they had no right nor business detaining. And once the situation got barked up the food chain he was let go and they were left staring at the walls.
I'm sure they'll be briefed on proper procedures after this. However, you and I know the games police and security play. They just kept him busy while they verified that he wasn't wanted or had a record. He didn't even miss his flight. All was well. I'm sure he was the talk of the office the next day over coffee. lol

He was not legally required to answer the question.

They tried to make him.

They tried to push him.

They are used to scared sheeple who just can't wait to blurt out the next YES SIR just to appease the great security gods.

He showed them where the line was and, hopefully, they learned a little something today.

I won't hold my breath though.
You're right... he wasn't legally required to answer their questions. But they aren't legally required to let him on an aircraft if he's uncooperative either. He's an "at will" customer. A bar tender can ask you how many you've had and you can decline to answer...but he isn't required to serve you either.

I would tend to lean to this scenario.

They ran a check on him & found out that he is with Campaign For Liberty.

C4L... being a staunch and well educated liberties group... would mark this guy as one of those you'd do best to just let go because he knows his stuff and he isn't the "putty in your hands' that these guys are used to.

The FBI guy walks up to them and suggests that they just cut their losses on this one and be done with it.
