Oh - no reason to apologize, I hadn't seen that abbreviation used. I thought maybe you knew who I was and was using what you thought were my initials.

My comment regarding hijacking the thread wasn't directed at you, I was just making a comment.

ok, so in this thread, I have gathered that your church preaches against open toes shoes, high heels, spikey hair (mens hair must be parted), sequins and sparkles on clothing, etc.

Two questions:
1)How do you all have any time left to preach against anything that really is sin, you know like the things that Paul wrote would kep us out of the Kingdom (1 Corinthians 6:9-11)

2)your church preaches against all these things, but allow you to be on the internet? Talk about consistency!

Re: My Name is on www.wedeclare.org

I know of a family that "borrowed" clothes (on loan) for a week to decide if they wanted them all the while they wore them to GC, then returned them all when they returned home without purchasing any of them.

I never thought that was right at all. Just wrong on many levels.

Well, that would be one way of having "new" clothes for GC.

Another way would be to have one or more of the Designers furnish your clothes for advertising purposes. Then you could return them after GC. It might be announced or there might be printed notices given out that "Sis.So and So's gowns are furnished by Such and Such a Designer." Probably the higher the person's husband is in the hierarchy the greater the advantage to be the Designer to furnish the clothing and the greater chance at getting new business after the GC.

You are sooooooo right!

What amazes me is that when people do this, they have no remorse or any guilt that it is wrong. And if questioned, they make no apology.

Most of the nicer stores now, (Dillards, Nordstroms, etc) will not take clothing back if any of the tags have been removed - even if you still have them.

I've known people to do it. They just leave the tag down the back of the jacket or dress... seriously.

Re: My Name is on www.wedeclare.org

I am very discouraged with the politics of the church. I no longer consider myself UPC- even though I attend a UPC church. The focus of many leaders is no longer winning souls and building people, but building kingdoms. I am blessed to have a pastor who is not caught up the politics of the organization.

They may not be correct on all accounts, embracing a sliver of legalism in many cases, but that is far less dangerous and destructive than the alternative.
Please tell me where anything on the wedeclare.org website addresses how men should be separate from the world in their dress and hair...or in any other outward way.
