I like real.
I can deal with real.
But what I have read the past couple of days has seemed to me to be a little more than just gritty, "keepin' it real" honesty.
It is cynicism, jaded pessimism, and a rank critical spirit, especially when the spotlight is directed at an Apostolic who still holds to traditional doctrines and standards.
Frankly, this may not be the place for me to spend much time.
The level of rancid, searing vitriol is shocking.

If you stay, you can balance out the more jaded, liberal views on this forum.
It may surprise you that conservatives and liberals have been bounced from this forum. Conservative apostolics " who still hold to traditional doctrines and standards" can be just as vitriolic as liberals.

Of course they can. An ugly spirit is an ugly spirit regardless of which end of the spectrum it may be on.
But from just a cursory reading the past couple of days, the conservative voices seem to be very few, and the prevailing mindset appears to come from the ditch on the opposite side of the road.
Is it fair to say that conservative views are very much in the minority here?

I'm sure that you are good Apostolic christian gentleman. Please don't take anything I say and distort it to mean that I don't love my brothers and sisters in Christ!
Just because I may question you saying "God told me", doesn't mean that I wish you ill. I am merely being open and honest about how I feel about this issue.
Anybody that knows me, or has been on AFF for a while, can verify that it's rare that I throw any preacher under the bus! I do call 'em like I see 'em!

As far as I know, you have never heard me say "God told me."
You questioned the reality of the concept, which is a Scripturally irrefutable one.

This forum once included in its ownership two conservative UPC ministers. They jumped ship and took many of the cons with them. You 'll have to read the archives to find the reasons why. This forum had a good mix when it was first started. You might have been able to compare it to the UPC when it first merged. Those who held to the PCI doctrines and PAJC doctrines were about equal although there was one liberal who was ubiquitous. Here's an example:

I get annoyed with some of the attitudes but then I've become more selective with who and what subjects I want to post to/on. Don't make you mind up too quickly and write this place off too quickly.
Ultimately it depends on what you are looking for in terms of discussion whether this is the place for you or not. I like hearing multiple views on a topic.

"God told me" is a scripturally irrefutable one BUT false prophets also say "God told me" and we are instructed to try the spirits.

I meant the word "you" to be generic meaning "anyone". I apologize for not wording it better.
I don't question that God speaks to his people, I question why people are quick to say "God told me". I believe the reason is because it gives their ideas or decisions more spiritual weight. After all, who can disagree with God?
I just think that a more humble approach is to say, " I feel that the Lord is telling me.." or " I feel in my spirit that.."
In other words, OWN the idea or decision! It may indeed be God helping someone make a choice, but why name drop to give it more spiritual clout?
I would bet that even you question anyone who claims that God told them something if their thoughts or decisions are not agreeable to you! This is my point. Who really knows?
Am I wrong if I accept everyone who says that God told them something? I think so, because it would lead to mass confusion.
Am I wrong if I reject everyone who says that God told them something? I think you must measure it with the written word of God, then judge. Sometimes a word from God is not what you want to hear, but you will know it's God.
I'm not saying that I've perfected the art of deciding whether a "word from God: is indeed a word from God. I've been right on some, and wrong on others.
