For God so loved us, He sent His son to die for our sins.

Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 1 John 3:2 KJV
Actually, I felt the same way for a long time about God sending his son to die for us. Serving a god that would kill his kid for you isn't very comforting to me. That's one thing I like about oneness-God robed Himself in flesh and came Himself to die for us. He didn't send someone in His place. He came. Now, that's a God I can believe in!

God died?

Hebrews 13:23 Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty
In 1 Corinthians chapter 15 the Apostle Paul defines the gospel as the death of Jesus for our sins, His burial, and His resurrection.
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
In my opinion, the Gospel is the good news of what Jesus has done for us, not something we might do for Him.

Umm, but God did give His Son. That's what it says.
