IMO, yes. You say you've never seen it, but a lot of people have. But I suppose that's a matter of opinion. Maybe some folks think it's just fine to ask God what to wear every morning. Some think it's weird. Just sayin'.
If I had a wife and she asked me what she should wear every morning it would drive me crazy... I wonder if God is the same way...

That is how my husband is...he hates it when I ask "does this outfit look good?" all the time, or another one: "What would you like me to make for supper?" Drives him nuts.
God gave us all minds...and I'm sure it makes Him very happy when we use them.

See, I don't think that's God. God can't help Stupid...
The heresy hunters are still with us. Only now, instead of stakes, they use their books and radio programs to destroy those they consider heretics.... I'm concerned that heresy hunting may be turning into leukemia because some cultwatchers seem more intent on destroying parts of the body than healing the body....
In my opinion, for whatever that's worth, some of the actions that we are discussing have been brought on by Pastors that demanded so much of their members, to the point of having to ask him what kind of car to buy and where and when to go on vacation and which house to buy. They can't do anything of any consequence without asking him. (You might not think this goes on but believe me it does. I've seen it and experienced it in the past.)
The members become so dependent on the Pastor that they start approaching God in the same way. But, I personally think that so much of "life" should be lived without "bothering God" with minor details. That's why He gave us the ability to gain knowledge and then wisdom on how to use that knowledge.
Have faith in your own ability! Exercise that ability and when you get it wrong, God is your Heavenly Father and will treat you like a father, with love and forgiveness. Your simple failures will teach you more than book learning in many cases.

What your discribing is not of God, it's called a CULT.

I would be happy being asked what I wanted for supper. That's a little different. I would go crazy if someone always asked me what they wanted for supper.

When my wife asks me what I want for supper of where I wanna go I usually give her three options, then she shoots them all down...
