But God is!!!! When temptation tries to overcome us, we call on the name of Jesus don't we? Or do we call our friends?
All "counseling" from believers should point to the power of God for deliverence.

I have known people who were delivered instantaneously. I've known others who weren't, it was a process.

Yes, but we can't negate where the real power and deliverance comes from. For some it might take many years of struggle.

Sure you did. You said, "I disagree...because I know the power of God." What else am I supposed to conclude?

Why will our words, our counseling, do something God can't? Hasn't He done it before, when hands were laid on people? When they were prayed for and delivered? He can't and doesn't do that? According to who? How does man break a stronghold? What power does any man have to do that? Where does the Spiritual empowerment come from? Men or God?

Can God? Sure, He can. He can make paraplegics jump out of wheelchairs, He can make pigs fly, He can cause the Pacific Ocean to part. He can do anything. But how often do we see these things? Virtually never.

I'm not arguing against God's ability, I'm simply saying that, because of our laziness and a misunderstanding of God's methodology, we cheat many out of full recovery.

Having our hair stand up on the back of our neck is NOT deliverance. Unfortunately, we have to get out of bed on Monday and live real life.

When we attempt to end the process at the laying on of hands, we are aborting the real recovery process, which requires a LOT of help.

Yes, we ABSOLUTELY tell him we've got a "program" for him.

In your experience, of those ones you mentioned who had to go through a "process", were they all eventually delivered?

I've known some who were. Others got very discouraged with the process.

I've never understand why some people get instant deliverance and others don't. But there are a lot of things I don't understand.

I remember some words I heard or read from a minister way back when about John 11:44. Jesus had spoken the words, "Lazarus, come forth" and it is recorded that "he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes; and his face was bound about with a napkin." Then Jesus spoke to some there and said, "Loose him, and let him go." The preacher's comment was that when Lazarus walked out of that grave he had life but no liberty. The application was that he had passed from death to life but he was still bound by graveclothes and needed the help of others to unwrap those garments and remove the face napkin. Just passing from death to life was a miracle but he needed the help and support of others to transition into his new life.
