It is never a mistake giving glory to your Savior, Jesus Christ. It is the will of God that we do so, since He elevated Christ in and into glory, and gave Him a name that is above every other name.
"And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was."
