If someone were living in sin and wanted to wallow there then that would be "disgusting" to me. But if someone doesn't have understanding and is surrounded by an environment that teaches them wronglyly or encourages the behaviour then I would not be repulsed by them. I think the repulsion is more an emotional reaction that a spiritual one. Similar to some people being repulsed by extremely obese people.
You know that fat people only have to "try harder" and not eat so much ... it's a sin to be gluttonous..
