If
1 Corinthians 11:6 was intended to mean "uncut hair for a covering" then
1 Corinthians 11:7 would mean that a man must shave his head lest he dishonor God. Or if you take the UPC traditional teaching of "cut = shaved" then a man could have a pony tail to his waist as long as it had been cut or trimmed at all.
The whole passage is obscure and to boast that any one interpretation is "God ordained" is hubris.
Numbers 5:18 commands the priest to "uncover the woman's head" when she offers a grain offering. Does this mean that the priest shaved the woman's head? No, the context clearly has a veil or head covering in mind - and not uncut hair.
1 Corinthians 11 is vague enough to allow several interpretations. To make such a passage a heaven or hell issue is to attempt to pull an
Isaiah 14:13-14, IMHO.
