Re: Inequality in Pay - Have you Experienced It?
I don't know about how my pay has compared with others.
When I was in the union, each job classification received a certain pay and there were no exceptions as to whether one person was more skilled, had more time on the job, or worked harder. I've noticed over the years that the union there forced workers to perform at low and slow levels.
One time when I was in a position to hire someone in a company where I used to work, I was given a stack of applications and told to contact people and interview them. Then I was told plainly to hire an African American.
Several years ago I was contacted by a manager who talked to me about a job he was going to have available. Then as we talked, he admitted that he was expected to hire either a female or an African American and he would get "two stars" if he hired an African American female.
