I am not offended, there is not much you could say to bother me.

I was very interested in doctrine when I was in school. In fact I still am, but do not keep up with it anymore, since it is a waste of time. I never was one to force others to do what I say. And Christians do not need to be controlled with a set of laws. That is one big failing of your church. Your laws are now more important than the truth. Bitterness does not describe me. I left church simply because no one cared, just like everyone on this forum. The only regret I really have is the wasted time.
If anything, I now have confirmation that I am correct. No one cares about the one single most important doctrine of your religion, ONE GOD. For what ever reason, lack of time, lack of interest, fear of retribution, no one will defend your most important doctrine. And so as I mentioned before, if there is no defender, there is no church, there is no god.
I am much happier now. It was so frustrating trying to defend a religion with so many failings. You think you have to look different, but in reality you need to be different. You talk about bitterness! Have you ever read this forum? God have mercy on all of you! You are exactly like the Jews were when Jesus came. Fighting over petty issues, making petty laws, and finding your own loopholes. You had better hope that Jesus does not enter one of your churches, or you might find all your pews overthrown!
And one last parting comment. MAYBE, if you really did things right, MAYBE you would really speak in tongues, instead of gibberish. I am really impressed with so many of your preachers who scream and shout the words "seek a mo sigh uh"! I would really like to know exactly what those words mean. I have heard them over and over so many times! So if you really want to impress me. Tell me where I can send a linguist who can understand what is being said in tongues in one of your churches. YOU CAN NOT DO IT! When the apostles did it, it just happened, that the foreigners there were understanding the exactly correct spoken language. You stick your head in the dirt and pretend it is real. If you are basing your redemption on tongues, you are all lost.

Compare what I have said to what Jesus told the Jews.
They did not believe him either.

I would say that he got you and me confused. I love all of that stuff, but unbeknown to him, we do defend the Oneness of the Godhead as well as many of the other core doctrines. There are many threads in the debate rooms and other places to prove this fact, as well as prove that there are diversities of belief and tone in this forum as well. It is very frustrating when people just come and make comments without doing all of their research first.

Some of your post above is going to be pretty funny to folks on here who know me because they don't apply to me. I am not UPC. I abhor screaming preaching and never understood the legalism and left it almost 30 years ago. I do believe in the importance of ministries in our live as stated in the NT and I also believe in morality and moderation. I also reject the notion that trinitarians believe in three gods as they are clearly monotheistic. There are differences in Oneness and Trinitarian views of the godhead but the question of monotheism is not one of them. I believe there can be a pretty big diversity of opinion on doctrines once you get past the essentials of believing in God, acknowledging who he is and what he sent his Son Jesus to do (be the perfect sacrifice for all of man's sins through the ages), repentance, asking God to be your savior then following Him. Of course if a person wants to follow him they will want to be identified with him in water baptism and seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit for empowerment.
