Ha, you got jokes about discernment.
I only need to meditate on which party Christ might stump for, to understand how I should approach politics. As if Biblical proclamations weren't enough.
And I take casting lots seriously, having been disciplined in its frivolous use.
If you aren't comfortable with the Scripture on the subject, fine, but I sure wouldn't advocate playing with it.
Also, if you are a Christian who for some reason feels that politics is one of the traditions of men they you are currently called to participate in, then earnestly casting lots might work fine for you, I don't know.

OK, so I laughed, but why wouldn't you seriously use lots to find out how to vote? Sure, meditation could work, too, but it wouldn't be frivolous to cast lots.
BTW, I suspect that if every Christian used either method (meditation or casting lots), we would find that some used the method incorrectly -- not everyone would vote on God's candidate. (Which ones were right and which were wrong is anybody's guess. Well, you would know for sure, I suppose.)

Ha, I'm pretty sure any meditation here would negate any further action, and there is no reason lots could not be set up to reflect the possibility that God would have you vote for no one. But, your final paragraph there is telling about why politics is satanic, imo. The beginning premise of politics is whacked Scripturally, and so every decision that proceeds from that premise will be whacked.
I guess this thread is somewhat upsetting to some people? My account was suspended for several hours this am, and this is about the most inflammatory thing I have going. For the record, I mean no offense.
I would like nothing better than to not feel compelled to speak about politics in a Christian forum, period, and I stay out of the political room now. If my posts seem ranty, understand that AFF has like a 20:1 ratio advocating politics in some form.

Satanic? Then how does God ordain all the powers that be (Rom 13)?
