So, in a nutshell.... this could portend to be a fight of the eastern nations, against the west, namely the US...

In the end, based on the article, Russia intends to cobble together a coalition to stand against the west, that includes Germany and all the way East to Iran etc.

I agree. Even though, the thought of such a thing makes me very sad.
