What I mean by explicitly is that it doesn't give an exact formula to how to deal with wine or strong drink. But it does suggests that it is dangerous to deal with. The Bible teaches about modesty, but does not give us all the guidelines. What if the choir leader comes to church in a bikini and walks up to the platform and when she is questioned she replies that she feels it is modest. What specific scripture do I prove to her it is immodest.
I believe that is what God has given us the ministry for. If a person wants to be legalistic we can argue about anything. All things may be lawful, but not expedient. I believe the Holy Ghost will lead us away from potentially dangerous things. I want to flee temptation and shun the very appearance of evil. Lot pitched his tent toward Sodom and next thing you know he has moved in. I feel like you will never slip up and drink too much if you choose to abstain from it altogether.
touchy subject though. If you can walk that line I won't judge you, but the people God has called me to be accountable to and for, I am going to teach abstinence.
