Sean, this statement not only represents misguided and ignorant thinking on your part, but stands in stark contrast to the writings of the sacred scriptures which assert otherwise!
In fact, during the 40 days following His resurrection from the dead, a period of time during which Christ Jesus expended in fully explaining every minute detail of those things which the prophets of old had been inspired of God to record concerning Himself, He did, in fact, advise them of what we might rightly call a "general time frame" concerning His return to the earth. However, He did NOT tell them that His return would occur during their genertion, rather that many generations must pass before his return. This is why Peter, on the day of Pentecost in his first sermon, used the term "afar off," implying for many generations to come.
