If I was a family man, maybe I would look at things a little differently.

I would move to San Diego over Cleveland in a heartbeat if the jobs were the same. Of course the cost of living is a lot lower in Cleveland so I guess the San Diego job would have to pay more for the standard of living to be the same.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: Job Promotion-- Sunny San Diego, CA
Ok. Just curious, if you guys had the choice between:
1) Cleveland, OH
2) San Diego, CA
3) Jackson, MS
All things being equal, and if God gives you the choice, where would you move?

1. SD
2. SD
3. SD

The only upside for Jackson is that it is very cheap to live there and the winters are not bad.
Cleveland.
No upside for me.
The Lord would have to speak!

Jackson is not a bad choice. The Gluckstadt community. And you could attend Parkview Church Pastor Jerry Wayne Dillon! A long time family friend.

The pastor is conservative. My sister and BIL are members along with a dozen other friends. I have attended when visiting my sister. The crowd was around 800 and very diverse. Bro. Dillon is hardcore 3 stepper with traditional UPC views on standards but he does not shove it down the throats of congregation. I see many different walks of life and a wide array of ummmmm dress.

Re: Job Promotion-- Sunny San Diego, CA
I stated that I didn't want to make any more decisions based on gut feelings and "notions".
But I DEFINITELY do not want to be self-willed either.
His sheep knows His Voice for sure...
I hope I am praying the right way. Really, I should not be wondering about this. But I am a guy who has made (what I consider to be) wrong decisions before-- based on unexplainable "bad feelings" or bad dreams that maybe happened because the situation was on my mind and my active imagination gave me a colorfully bad dream...
Bottom line I will fast AND pray.
and if His answer is, "Wait" and the time for decision comes and an answer is needed right then and there...
I'd like to think I'd wait and let the opportunity in my immediate reach go by. Hopefully, this is not how God decides to play this out.
Even with all of the above, still I know what it is like to make a decision clearly hearing from the Lord that this was not His Will. I was in a situation where I felt that since I had already committed myself in word, on paper, and with money, I felt like I just needed to go through with my decision. My friends, that was BY FAR the costliest, out-of-the-Will-of-God decision that I myself have ever made! I never want to go down that road ever, ever, again.
